Default Spiking Issue

Hello Guys,

I do not know exactly what sub-forum to post this thread is as I have never encountered anything like it.

Player 1 is playing Runescape on low/medium/high graphics and has constant spikes in which Runescape freezes for a second but he can open other programs. He has re-installed the cache and updated Java many times so he believes it isn't related.
While Player 1 is playing Runescape the display on the monitor will rarely turn off with the monitor staying on, to fix this he has to restart the whole computer but when his children play SimCity, the display will turn off every few hours.

Ask questions and everything I have alot of trouble shoot questiosn and answers to fire away, won't be able to give specs til tomorrow but I believe his computer should be able to run it.

Check CPU/GPU temps with HWMonitor while playing and post them here.

What browser is he running? Has he tried a different browser to see if it continues there?

Has he updated his graphics drivers?

If it's doing it in SimCity as well..then I'd guess either a heat or driver issue.

Thanks for such a fast reply, I will edit the post with the temperatures and everything like that in 12 hours since that is when he gets home from work unfortunately. If you could check back then that'd be amazing.

Are those temps while running a game, or is that while it's just idle?

Looking at the pic of the internal of the system - yeah no wonder it's overheating. There's very little space for airflow in that case. Try leaving the side off, and pointing a desk fan at the inside and see if the temps drop and performance smoothens out while playing - just to see if my theory is correct.

Have advised him of these possible fixes, will reply tomorrow with the results unless he decides to create an account on here and continue the discussion which he hopefully does.

Thanks again CarnageX
