Default Speakers

Hi, I just got an Altec Lansing FX5101 set and am now having some problems. I use the USB connection to my computer. The problem is that i am getting some bad popping sound playing anything. I uninstalled the driver and then rebooted the system. When vista starts, it recognizes the new (old) hardware, reinstalls drivers and all is good (the sound that is) untill ??? happens and then is sounds bad again. HELP!
