Sound on a Vizio

So I just connected my pc to my 52" Vizio using a DVI to HDMI cable and then using a stereo cable that converts the one stereo output into red and white inputs for the tv. Does this set up sound right? Because as of now I have no sound, but would really like to have it!! Thanks for any help!!

By the way I have a gtx 285 and an ex58-ud5 mobo if that helps. Anybody??
