Sound playing from BOTH my BUILT IN and EXTERNAL speakers?

yea so sound is coming out of both my external speakers and the built in ones in my pc.

this happened when i upgraded from xp to vista on my HP Workstation xw8000

my computer only recognizes one playback device, and thats correct and its a intel 82801db/dbm AC '97

anyone know how to fix?

I think you need drivers for that, instead of the default Vista drivers. Are you talking about a laptop here?

no its not a laptop , do you know where i can get the drivers i need?

What do you mean by "built in" ones? The ones on your monitor? If so, take out the sound cables...

As for drivers, I need you manufacturer and model number.
