At random times, I will hear a system beep. At some random time after hearing the system beep, the sound icon disappears from my screen and all sounds are gone. I can only get sound back by rebooting. This doesn't happen every day or with any regularity.
I have a Compaq EVO N1000c laptop.
I suspect it might be a fan failure. Every test I've run shows everything working properly.
How do I check the fan?
