sound channel not working

i have a 5.1 speaker system. only the green channel works from the sound card. ive changed the sound card, no change . how can i find out what the faulty hardware is?

i would wager that its not faulty hardware. its a driver/software issue. if windows has set your sound card up similarly to mine i would check the sound properties from the system tray icon and look through the options. it probably has the other channels disabled.

sounds like a driver issue.. try the latest drivers off the manufacturer website.


also how many audio jacks does your computer have?

if it just has 3 and you're posiive it supports 5.1

chances are you have to Change what function the jacks are in the driver level..

as there are three default jacks. One is Mic in, line in and Audio out


if it's not 5.1....


Get a 6 channel soundcard
