Default Something Wrong...

I have a Hp Pavilion Slimline s37000f PC
AMD athlon x2 5000 Dual-Core Processor
3gb system memory
and a
Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT

Should I be able to run games such as Overlord or spore?
I think I should, something isnt right and I don't know what is wrong.

Just in the menus of the game it is so choppy I can't even move my cursor around.

anyone got any ideas on what may be going on?

You might want to shut down any running processes that are in the background. If you have. After that, turn down your video setting (if need be) on the game your playing.

but it sounds to me as if you have a LOT of stuff running that doesn't need to be.

Edit: Sounds stupid, but a good system clean, registry clean and defrag will also help.
