We have 3 Dell PWSs (530, 650, 670). We bought 670 pretty recently. All the 3 systems are having SCSI HDs. While 650 and 670 have only 1 SCSI drive, both the systems are very slow while reading and writing into the HD. There is something strange with 670, the HD RW speeds improve significantly only when I run the Fujitsu (the HD in it is of Fujitsu) SCSI diagnostic tool whenever I start the system. Till then the performance will be very slow. Coming to 650, since its a seagate drive I am not having any diagnostic tool like that of fujitsu to run, and its RW performance is also slow. When I contact Dell support, they always suggest me to run Dell diagnostic utility and if it doesnt show any problems, then the drive may be failing. Other than that they are not very helpful.
Do anyone of you have the same problems with Dell systems or anyother systems??
