I've broken that little thingy that i stick into power outlet so it converts AC to DC... that powers my modem

but i have that universal one that can be used on various stuff...

heres my problem...

on original one it says output: 12V 1500mA
and this universal can be set out to output 12V 1000mA

and also it got that switch that switches polarity...

question:
will less amps damage my router?
how do i know to set polarity right?

thanks...

Not likely. The router may not function properly if underpowered. An overloaded the adapter will over heat.

The old adapter and/or router should have a polarity diagram on it. If not try positive(+) center first.
