Tell me, what is a reflow?

Did you check if the backlight is simply going bad? Shine a flashlight at a 45* angle, if you can see the desktop, post, anything, you have a bad backlight.

Reflow is heating up the motherboard (or certain parts of it with a heatgun) to a very high temp to melt down the solder joints, and then cooling it so the joints harden again.

The dv6 series of HP laptops with certain nVidia chips had this done to them by people to try and fix issues they were having; people also do this with 360's that RRoD.

People can do it in their homes with either heatguns, or by sticking the motherboard in the oven and wrapping it in tinfoil around the areas they want to reflow.
