Short in laptop

I have a short in my laptop somewhere. I don't know where it is and I have no idea how to find/ repair it. I know it is a short, because whenever I plug in my power supply to the laptop, the power supply shuts down. I tried this power supply on an identicle laptop, andit worked fine. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8200 and the warrenty has expired. Please help!!!

I think you'll have to test each component in the laptop individually, starting with the PSU and the motherboard, since those are sometimes the most usual suspects. Also, remove any add on cards and test them. Also, check out any forums related to Dell hardware and see if you aren't the only one having problems related to that particular model.

Its more than likely a problem with the battery.
