SCSI guidance...

Wasn't sure which forum this should go in, so here goes...

I recently was given an Adaptec SCSI controller card, and HP DAT drive, but it now appears that the DAT drive doesn't seem to work

I now have a redundant SCSI card, and want to utilise it, but have no idea what is compatible. It has a 50 pin internal ribbon connector, and a many more pin connector externally.

What devices would be compatible with the 50 pin internal, I'm thinking a hard drive for example, is there anything in particular I should look for?

I have searched and searched for assistance on finding the right SCSI product, there just seems to be so many different versions!

It's not my main PC, so an old (cheap) hard drive or something would fit in, just are adapters needed perhaps?

Hope somebody can give me some guidance and that I haven't been too confusing or vague

There are alot of Different Versions of SCSI and only SCSI Harddries are compatible with a 50 PIn ribbion cable.

If you really want to use SCSI drives then you need to do alot of reasearch.

Lots of standards! Not giving me much guidance on which devices are compatible with my 50 pin ribbon cable.

More simply, will any SCSI hard drive I buy from ebay work with it?

Well what standard is the PCI Card. There are standards like ultra SCSI, Wide SCSI, Ultra Wide SCSI.

But I guess any SCSI Drive will work as long as its connector is 50 Pins.

Make sure you properly terminte the drive. The manual will say how to.
