screen resolution problem on HDTV

i hookt up my technika 37-700 1080p tv to my pc using an hdmi-dvi conection but my desktop and most 3d aplication are not displyaing correctly.the image is to big on the screen but yet its displaying in 1920x1080 witch is the native resolution for the tv. i have the upto date display drivers for my gtx280 card .there dosent seem to be an auto adjust display for the tv and trying to resize the desktop on the nvidia control panel just decreses the resolution witch is not what i want..dose anyone no how i can make the image display in full so it fits the screen of the tv..thanks
