screen flickering

Well just recently my video card gave out and found out the batteries, I'm guessing that's what they were, on the video card were starting to burn out so I'm using onboard. Before I took the video card out the screen was flickering and the video drivers started failing and what not... With the on board I'm getting just flickering on and off of my t.v. which I'm using as a monitor. Any ideas? I'm connected using a vga cable and I've never had this problem before.

Did you uninstall the video card drivers and make sure that not only were the onboard ones installed, but also updated?

Goto the manufacturers website, find the download page for your motherboard model and download the vga drivers from there.

checked and it seems as though it's updated... screen hasn't been flickering for a while but I have been getting some freezing of the system itself at random times.
