Default Sata or USB ?

Hey everyone!! new to the forums

My neighbour has given me an external WD 320gb sata hdd which has usb 2. I currently have a 250gb seagate IDE hdd with windows, and i want to start using me new hdd :P my question is would the data transfer speed be significantly slower if i used it in the through usb or am i better off hooking it up and use sata ?

thanks in advance

Just use the USB drive as a backup, dont take it apart just for the extra 320gb, 250gb is enough and the speeds aren't that bad
