SATA slave

I am not experienced with SATA drives. We had one die overnight. Is it possible to slave it and try to recover data like you can an IDE or is it a lost cause? All I get when I try to boot is Disk Read Error and a black screen. I ran the DPS self test and it said error code 7 replace the drive.

You dont have slave SATA drives they are all masters, you need to go into the BIOS and change the hard drive boot order so:

1.broken hard drive
2.working hard drive

to

1.working hard drive
2.broken hard drive

Cool. I am trying a repair install of windows right now and hoping (probably not gonna happen) that it will work. If not I'll do that and see if I can get what is needed. Thanks.
