Default Sata or Ide?

my buddy has a msi 865pe neo2 mobo and hes not sure if it supports sata or ide hardrives, can someone post which one? he thinks it might be able to support both

oh ok thanks, well hes hooked the sata drive up but it doesnt detect it in bios what gives?

The drive has jumpers? Is it configured properly? Did he read the instructions?
