Default Sata Hot Swap

The other day i connected a SATA drive to a pc that was running, in order to see what was on the drive. Unfortunately is seems to have had a bad effect on the machine. I rebooted after removing the drive and when booting up the PC freezes on the XP progress bar screen.

Any ideas what has happend? And what to do to fix it ?

Perform a chkdsk on the drive in question as well to make sure it isn't a bad drive.
