Hello there I have a problem and I don't even know where to begin, im using my basic system for homework as I have been for a long time, but for some reason about last week or so it stopped booting up,

it kept telling me that the windows folder was corrupt and told me to do recovery, I did again and again and again, it would work and then give me a blue screen of death saying that something might be damaged.

I don't know the extent of the problem because I am using this computer now with the same hard drive

but I will describe the problems and hopefully someone can help me out

The post screen checking for memory and drives, sometimes does not recognize the drive

it will go to a screen saying please select proper boot device or disk error please restart

when it does recognize it will take an extremely long time to boot

The computer won't work unless I make it work, I have to take out the sata cable from the mobo and from the hdd and plug it in like a dozen times before it recognizes

im using an asrock p4vm800 i believe, segate barracuda sata1 160gb hdd

if anyone could help me figure out what is going on it would be greatly appreciated. it's just driving me crazy
