I don't think Gigabyte support is too sharp...

me:

Hello, I am having a slight problem with my motherboard. None of my HDD's are reporting S.M.A.R.T. info back, with multiple programs. I have 3 different hard drives, 2 are SeaGate SATAs, and 1 is a Western Digital SATA. I've made sure to update to the latest BIOS, and enable Native SATA mode. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the SATA controller on the board itself, or what exactly. It's not a huge problem, but it would be nice if the SMART values were reported back to me. Thank you for the help, I appreciate it.
Their response:

SMART Only applies to IDE hdd, not sata
Any issue with the motherboard?

what? lol

My response I'm sending now:

I'm sorry, but you are mistaken. SMART does apply to SATA. I had an HP computer, with a SATA drive (the 320GB SATA drive that I'm using in my current setup, in fact), and it reported SMART data back. Is the p35-ds3r just not compatible with reporting SMART data, or is the SATA controller in fact faulty on my (or these) boards? Thank you.

Funny how they say SMART only works on IDE and not SATA, considering that SATAII has far more SMART functions...
