I bought a 80 gig maxtor and a sata pci card to connect it as a second hard drive.
On boot the raid function finds the drive ok, and it works.
However on at least three occasions, (normally running a game) windows has stated I have removed the drive !!!, causing lots of errors. The drive and adapter seem to be working ok. I run windows 2000.
Have I set up the drive within disc management wrong? should the drive be dynamic? Can anyone help please.

any ideas please?
could i have set up the raid driver incorrectly, 1 instead of 0,?
would this have made a difference?
thanks for looking

Sounds like your PCI SATA controller may be having some driver issues. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the device. Once it sees the hard drive, it shouldn't loose it, unless there is something with the drivers, or the card, or the PCI slot it is in. If the drivers don't work, and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers doesn't work, try switching PCI slots- couldn't hurt.
