Default Sata 2 Speed Issue

Hi guys,

I have done a benchmark on my system recently, my master drive with windows xp on it is a Maxtor 200GB Sata2 drive, the hard drive benchmark results showed the following

Sata2 200gb maxtor 11.39MB/s
300GB Maxtor IDE Drive 14.09 MB/s

my 300GB Maxtor IDE is reporting to be much faster than my sata2 drive and i`m unsure why, i have the motherboard Asus 8AN-SLI with latest drivers....

question - is my sata 2 drive running at it`s optimal speed? i noticed a jumper on the drive which i have removed when i bought the drive which apparently caps the drive at sata 1 specs,
please advise?

regards,

Zorgan

Default

After Investigation into this issue i have suceeded in resolving the issue eventually, I thought it only constructive to share the configuration with others,

Within "Device Manager" NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Controllers must be configured to match 3G.

You may configure this by right click properties on the device, then browsing to the relevant tab.

There may also be an option - "Speed Test" once configured for verification of the drives transfer rate.
