Router hangs on Acquiring network adress!!!

I bought my nice new Netgear DG834G and connected it to the pc with my Ethernet Patch cable, followed all instructions, set it to Automatic IP and DNS, but the LAN status stays on Acquiring network adress!!!! Nothing else happens!!!

What can I do to solve this? Im on XP Home.

Hello,

Go to Network Connections in the Control Panel, right click your ethernet nic, and click Repair.

im going to assume you had your cable modem connected directly to your pc before you bought the rought. if thats the case the pc is still looking for the cable modem and not the router. what you do is you unplug the cable modem for about 60 sec. and them plug it back in. leave the pc on leave all other connections connected and you should be set when the modem powers back on.
