Default Removing CPU from Dell D4400

This is a pathetic problem but I am trying to get the CPU out of a Dell Dimension 4400 and those darn clip things holding down the cooling unit are confounding me......
Can anyone help me out by telling me how to get them off so I can remove the CPU please?

The CPU has to come out as it is completely banjaxed and we need to replace it with a new one.
