Default Recovering files from dmg (or iso) image that has no operating system.

Hi, I have a 2TB external HDD that is not being recognised by the computer. I used Disk Drill software to make a back up of the HDD and has produced an image file.

Now I cannot unmount the image because the external HDD had no operating system on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try an Ubuntu Live CD. And choose to try it first. Then see if you can see the external.

Thanks,
You mean to boot up a computer from an Ubuntu CD and then try accessing the external Hard Drive?
If I got you right, I got a new reason to like Linux
Will let you know

Yeah, Let Ubuntu load up and everything and choose to try it, not install it. From there you may or may not be able to read the HDD.

Linux can do so much more than Windows, people just don't realize it.

In light of Windows 8, I might just go to Ubuntu...
