Default Recover data from a broken HD

My dell laptop HD crushed. I sent it to one of online HD recovery program and was willing to pay $2k. However they could not fix it in their laboratory due to the "mechanical problem" of the disk.

I would like to try another recovery service. Which online HD recovery companies do you recommend?

Thanks

you might be able to recover the data yourself if the hdd is not badly damaged.

you could take it out of the laptop and hook it up to a desktop as a secondary data drive and see what you can recover.

edit: $2k??, as in $2000?

A mechanical problem with the HDD should not stop a professional company, especially if they charge $2000. I would try to get your money back if I were you.

They actually did not charge $2000 because they could not recover the data.

I have had people use this company with good results.
DriveSavers Data Recovery ? Hard Drive, Disk, and RAID Data Recovery Services

A pro data recovery service does not care about mechanical problems as they just pull the platters.
