OK well I moved back the drivers to identify which one was causing the problem, and have concluded that it was intelppm.sys...
XP is still not perfect - the dvd drive doesn't seem to like the drivers, and I'm not sure how to get the network working...
As for Vista, I tried deleting intelppm.sys from the vista drivers folder, but that still doesn't work, so I don't know what to do.
