Reasons why newly installed RAM won't wouldn't work

I tried install a 1GB PC3200 DIMM RAM in my brother's computer, but it didn't read it at all. What would be possible reasons for this? I'm sure I installed it correctly. Is it because my mobo can't support it?

Most likely. What is your mobo? If you give the model I could see whether it does support it or not.

Also when you say 2gb in your sig do you mean before you put the new one in, or is the new one included in that?

It might not support DDR400, or it might not support 1gb.

Also, your RAM might be bad, but not likely.
