Really Confussed :S

Okay so heres the problem, i have an 8GB Maxell USB Flash drive, i installed linux to the drive so i can run it straight from the USB, after it failed for the 3rd time i decided just to give up, so i tried to format the drive so it was back up to 8GB, it formated perfectly but its now sayng that the default allocation size is 237MB, now ive tried formating it into NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, and its default FAT. but still no joy, i used Win32diskimager, ive opend it6 again in hopes that i would be able to restore the device but there is no option, can someone please HELP!!!

If you are installing Linux, it should be ex3 or ex4. It can run on NTFS, but not recommended.
