Re-formatting trouble?

I want to reformat my pc and I am having some difficulties. When I put in my windows XP cd, and restart the computer, it doesn't boot from the cd. Also, if I go into my bios and try to change the boot order, my cd-drive isn't in the list? How should I go about formatting my computer then?

You could press F12, or whatever your BIOS uses, to go into a boot selection window.

Your drive not showing in boot priority? Did you press the correct keys to change it? Some have a list of all bootable devices, some you have to pick by + and -.

Also are you sure it didn't get unplugged data cable or power plug or the pin for Master /Slave are correct.
