Hi I would like to get a second opinion here. Recently for about the last 2 weeks or so my computer has been randomly rebooting. I think I have ruled out any software conflicts as it can and does reboot during the use of any program and even when there is absolutly nothing running or open at all. When it does reboot my computer also admits a high pitch zing or whine sound. Finanlly I believe that this is a HD problem as I have been having an adnormal amount of corrupt files ranging from .cab files to saved programs (.exe)

Here is my current setup

1 40Gig WD Caviar (about 2 years old winxp is installed here)
1 40Gig Maxtor (about 3 years old, this is just a storage drive)
1 ATI Radeon 8500 DV AGP graphics card
1 Soundblaster Live audio card
1 Lit On DVD Drive
1 Lit On DVD-R Drive
AMD 2400+ Processor
512 MB PC2100 Crucial Ram
450w Power Supply

Any help would be much appreciated

i would backup your data as soon as possible and invest in a new drive. i think that one's about to go.... i've had similar experiences that end up the same way

Yes I have a second hard drive which is my storage drive which is also periodically backed up on DVD-R media so I am double protected. I just hope my tax returns arrive before the drive dies
