Default Random ping spikes

So I use a wireless dongle and I'm with BT, I've been getting these random ping spikes where I would go from 60 to 100+ ping every 10-15 seconds or so, I let it happen for a month or so hoping it would just sort its self out but it never. Is there any way to fix this other than wired internet?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

1) Do you get the ping spikes only on a single system?

2) How good is the wireless connection? Do you have the problems if you move much closer to the WAP? (wireless access point)

3) Have you tried using a wired connection to see if you still get the ping spikes?

Sorry I forgot to mention, I use a desktop PC. So that makes it difficult to move to other locations, I will try using a wired connection. Thank you for the reply.
