I have a D-Link adsl router, and two computers, both running XP.
This router has two ports, a usb port, and an ethernet port.

We managed to get the net running by plugging both in (the ethernet for me, and the usb for my dad's)

After running smoothly for a while, my dad's pc couldn't connect to the net. the next day, the router refused to even recognize the usb. (the usb light on the router didn't go on). That day, I used the net, and went away for 5 minutes. When I came back, my net was gone.

The day after that, my dad's computer was able to log into Xfire, but nothing else, my net had returned.

After that day, both our internet connections have returned to normal (if a bit slower to connect)

My brother thought it was my dad's pc, but the fact that mine messed up doesn't jibe with that.

Any ideas?

I'm sure you've already tried powering down the router first, but I'd also check the manufacturer's web site and make sure you have all the updated software and drivers. Also, you may want to post this over in the Networking section.

Thanks.

I have will do what you have suggested, I do believe that the unplugging of the router does help
(my dad removes the plug every night, don't know why)
But I will update drivers as soon as I can
