Ever since I finished building my computer I have constantly been getting random crashes in Windows XP. However after switching to Vista, nothing of that nature occurred again however due to my dissatisfaction of Windows Vista I attempted to give Windows XP another shot. Unfortunately, it was the same result.

From what I currently know the root cause of this would be the Nvidia drivers. I emailed XFX for a solution but they didn't have any confirmed fixes. My system specs are: AMD Athlon x2 3600+, 2GB DDR2 RAM, Asus M2V Motherboard, XFX 8500 GT, 80 GB SATA hard drive, 450 W Power Supply and running on Windows XP Professional SP2.

reinstall your video card drivers.

You can download a different (or newer) version from Guru3D

You'll be looking for 32-bit Forceware drivers. Modified ones work too, and often give better performance.
