Hi guys,

I'm kind of a noob at these things, but I was trying my RAM in different slots and I accidentally put one in backwards without realizing and as I turned it on I noticed smoke and turned the power off straight away.

The RAM stick has one gold line burned (Still works though) and the RAM slot has a tiny burn on it too (see pictures)

I read somewhere that it can burn out the whole mobo, is that true?

Cheers

How did you manage to install the stick backwards? It shouldn't fit in the socket like that, well you would need quite a bit of brutal force to cramp it in. Does your computer still work?
