Hi again tech-forums... it's been a while lol.
My friend has a gateway pc which he put in a 512mb (256mb shared) 8400gs. It had only 1gb of ram (2x512mb ddr2), so he decided to upgrade. the max memory allowed on his motherboard is 4gb. So I reccomended him some cheap Gskill ddr 667 (He won't oc or really game much, just a normal pc user), but when he put in the ram it wouldn't turn on. however when we used integrated the pc booted up fine with 4gb of ram. so the ram isn't faulty. He took out one of the 2gb sticks and put in one of the old sticks so he has 2.5gb of ram and the 8400gs works fine. Any clue why it's doing this? I thought VRAM isn't considered when counting the max amount of memoy on the motherboard.
