question about hard drives

you know if you got a tower case and inside its the hard drive and the tower is situated on the floor, my question is will the tower be ok on the floor when your vacum cleaning and you accidently knock the tower will the hard drive be ok... sorry for the poor wording im crap when it comes to writing

i dont mean to knock it but if i do i dont do it on purpose because i try to miss my computer really when its on, but when its computers off is it ok to knock it because the computers off the disks arnt revolving are they

its not the best thing to do but no it shouldn't cause any damage when the pc is off unless you really hit it. when its on though your liable to end up with a scratched hdd platter like you said.

SATA by far. why aren't you interested in ATA/IDE? SATA is faster but i think IDE drives are better if used just as large storage drives.
