So I am getting a new motherboard and I want to use my old hard drive to preserve Windows 2000 so I dont have to go through the hassle of reformatting, as I did that about a week before my old motherboard died. However in the searching I've done on how I might do this, it seems like a huge ordeal and maybe not worth the effort. I don't have access to the OS as the mobo is dead, although I have all my data on a separate hard drive from the OS. I take it my best option is to just reformat (again)?
Will I be able to reformat with the new motherboard when it starts up and freaks out?

Well try to just plug it in and see what happens first. If that wont work for you then reformat.
