programs freezing

Hi guys I'm new here (sorry if I'm posting this wrongly or something)
Recently I've been having problems with my pc
It's got 2gb ram, core 2 2.4ghz processor, nvidia 7900 gs, vista home premium(dells upgrade from xp service)
Programs often freeze and starting IE then closing it again often clears everything up
IE starts up frozen, I close it and after a few tries everything responds again
I'm not sure but Im pretty sure it's hardware related, maybe something to do with ram stopping

Anyone got any ideas?

If you believe this is RAM related run MemTest86.

Memtest86 - Download Page

Run for around 4 hours to get accurate results.

It is a ISO image. Burn the ISO with ImgBurn.
