So I bought a new SATA hard drive. It doesn't work the computer doesn't recognise it at all.

I installed motherboard drivers, etc. but it still wouldn't work. Tried everything, asked here for advice, no one could come up with anything.

So I'm wondering if I shold return that SATA drive and replace it with an IDE from newegg?

Did you enable the SATA drive from the BIOS? Does the BIOS see the drive? What other drives do you have? Did you plug in the power? What does it say in the Device Manager?

Well I have the SATA as my secondary drive. I have it set on SATA I mode because my motherboard is SATA I. The BIOS doesn't see it but it never did see my OLD SATA drive but that worked after I had installed the motherboard SATA drivers through windows. But I do the same for this one but it doesn't work.

I'm thinking my BIOS is perhaps old that's why it's not recognising the SATA?

My motherboard is Asus SK8n
