Problems with DVD

Hi,
Just basically swapped a HDD from a Dell PC to a spare PC I had for a friend. I had to use a spare HDD as the original from the Dell machine wouldn't boot. I had major problems installing windows onto a HDD for him but then used one of My HDD and the install was fine. Everything seemed fine after the initial driver problems. Now, he says that when he opens the DVD drive the PC is restarting, this wasn't a problem before and I don't understand why this is the case? The pc isn't on the net and is going to be used as a gaming pc so no other software apart from Win XP Home and Direct X then Games.

When your eject the Optical Drive, it restarts. Is the Optical Drive and HDD running on IDE (ribbon cable)? Are they both sharing any wires or some sort? What happened when you tried to install Windows on your HDD from the Dell? What problems occured?

sounds like a hardware problem, either Power supply low on power , or ribbon cable/DVD drive
