Default problem with processor

I just upgraded my graphics but noticed my cpu driver was missing, I downloaded the driver and installed it except instead of having a 2.2ghz processor, I now have a 1 ghz processor, what have I done wrong, please help.

Amd athlon 64 3500+ 2.2ghz
1gb nvidia geforce 210
asrock 939s56-M motherboard
windows xp sp2

There is no drivers for the cpu.

Maybe link to the file you d/l'd s someone can see what you did d/l.

patonb is right. There is no need for CPU driver. Download CPU-z (an information tool for processors). it will tell your CPU specs. post here the result.

The low frequency may result of incorrect BIOS configuration. Or maby this CPU (I'm not so familiar with AMDs) have a power saving feature that slows the clocks if CPU is idle.
