Problem with Planar 17" monitor

I have a Planar 17" monitor (model number PL1700-BK) that was given to me and it has a weird problem. When I plug it in and turn it on it looks fine for about five minutes then gradually little sparkles/colored lines start to go across the screen in columns. Then the image that is at the top of the screen starts to show up at the bottom of the screen flickering. It was given to me with the problem already happening. I will post a picture of the screen and have pictures of the boards inside the monitor if you need them. I have dial-up so I don't want to post them unless I need to.

When you go to advanced mode, go to Attachments a little below your text window.

That might be a loose connection, or it just going haywire. As to how, I do not know.
