Problem no screen

hi all you great minds i have a problem my mates computer when he turns it on ther screen starts up as normal then the windows xp screen comes on then it cuts to the blue screen of death and all goes black the moniter starts to flash it's little green light as if the computer has gone into standby even tho it hasn't. What do you think it is the graphic card it's self or the drivers?

BSOD's may, amongst many things, be caused by a dying expansion card, RAM, PSU, or often bad driver(s).

First off, do a Google/Yahoo! for a well-known system RAM diagnostic tool called Memtest86+, burn it onto a floppy or CD/DVD-RW, and test your RAM for errors.

What drivers are you running? Chipset, video card etc... What hardware do you even have?...
