Hi tried the safe mode as well and it is not recognising there too.
It is showing ''DISK is not formatted'' as a header. and under it '' windows cannot read this disk. The disk might be corupted or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows'' was showed along with 'close' tab.
And when I tried to open the control panel in normal mode, it showed up like earlier, but when I asked it to send error report, it is recommending to update it to XP-SP2.
I tried to upload the page shown, but its not allowing to upload .doc file...

Try updating to SP2, then. Windows Update should do it for you, or you can dl it separately.
