I'm having some odd and frustrating problems with my Canon MP160. Whenever I tell it to print it immediately gives me service error 5100. I checked online and the general consensus is to check for any obstructions that would keep the printer from working, but I have checked and there is nothing. Furthermore it always passes its power on self check. I think it may be a software issue, because when it gives me the error it immediately throws it without physically doing anything, its like it already knows it wont work. I'm no printer guy so this is pretty foreign to me. Does anyone have any ideas?

I would reseat the ink and blow the inside w/ a can of air to ensure there aren't any particles blocking the mechanics inside. IF that doesn't work reinstall the software and drivers that came with the printer. Also try another USB port and cable incase that is going out.
