I've got a new Hp M8100N Pavilion and I wonder if anybody has a trick up their sleeve to intall an old HP1000 Photosmart printer.Hp gave me a work around using another printers model #.Nothing seems to make this thing accept the old printer.It shows up in device manager but just sits there when called to print.

I think I read somewhere that Windows XP (maybe 2000) and newer have tight security restrictions on the COM and LPT ports, so if your printer is an old LPT or COM port printer, it might be having issues with that.

I'm sorry..I should have mentioned it is a Vista system.
