Pressing F12 fonts too dark

When I turn on my computer I'm prompted to
enter my password.
The fonts are too dark so I write in my password
by remembering it.

Also when I press F12 & get to that screen, I can
barely see the fonts even with the lights off.

How can I make them white again?

Can you adjust the brightness and contrast on your monitor ?
If you can tell us what monitor you have with model number displayed in the front or back.

If you using windows 7 by chance this will help adjust the settings in windows.
Calibrate your display
