Basically i have had nothing with problems with my ram.

I wonder if its my ABIT AS8-V MoBo?? heh, think not

I have one stick of 512mb ram from PQI
And a stick of 256mb ram from PQI

(Shouldnt they be compatable?)

1st time i booted up my mobo:
256mb in slot 1
512mb in slot 2
(It didnt work)

Then i switched teh two......
(Still didnt work)

Then i put:
512 in slot 1
256 in slot 3 -WHICH IS IN DUAL CHANNEL-
(GUESS WAT, IT WORKED, BUT IT FROZE WHENEVER I HAD TO USE MORE THAN 512 mb RAM)

Somewhere inbetween i found the right place to put the ram and it only showed 512 mb... and it didnt freeze or anything. Then a couple days later it didnt work)

Wat is going on?...

The only answers i have is that maybe the 512mb ram is dead, becuase the 256mb works perfectly when its alone
(Thats wat im using right now)

BTW: i have a very nice mobo. so i could try to add more power to the ddr slots. That might b it, right?

Sounds like the RAM is your issue. Personally, i would not try to up the voltage on the DDR slots.

Buy some Quality RAM and you won't be disappointed. ;)

RAM is so cheap these days it crazy. :)

Run memtest86 from http://www.memtest86.com/ using one stick in your motherboard at a time.

That will determine if it is your RAM that is faulty, and which stick, if any.

My guess is that your motherboard isn't appreciating the mixmatch of RAM. I say either get all new RAM, or get a matching stick, if you find no problems when running memtest.

.. well i can only run memtest on 256.. and that seems to work fine by itself.

I also was trying to get another pair of 256, but they changed it. I cant find my model any where. Will it not work right if i get the same brand but different model?

BTW: My model is 256mb PQI #MD4456UOE

And dont worry about my 512.. i think its just broken, cause it wont work in my friends build.
