I recently got my IBM ThinkPad T42 laptop working, and I ordered a charger for it to use as an a/c cable because I don't have a battery for it yet, and it keeps shutting off every 20-30 minutes, while it is still plugged in. Is this because my laptop's overheating or what?

First of all, is it just sitting there when it does this, or are you running a game? Get HWMonitor and show us a screenshot. Either heating, or the voltage is making it faint.

I doubt it's voltage problems, the only parts that were changed were from a different T42 and was only the fan, because this one was getting fan errors, and 'specs' on the charger match those of the computer itself.

And it'll just shut off from trying to play youtube videos.
